I hold an M.Sc. in Mathematics, which I earned (with a Distinction) from the Open University in Milton Keynes, England. I can comfortably tutor calculus, linear algebra, discrete math, real analysis, and numerous other math topics. I am also a Graduate Statistician of the Royal Statistical Society and have a strong background in undergraduate and master’s-level probability and statistics.
Below are a few features which help define my math tutoring style.
• A natural, common-sense understanding of math and statistics topics: Formulas and theorems are useful, but it is much more important to understand the logic behind them and to remember a few good examples.
• A versatile approach: We can go over difficult homework problems, or I can supplement your professor’s lectures with my own explanations and insights, or we can try any other lesson format you might find helpful.
• Active, Socratic learning: I came up with the name “Good Question Tutoring” because I encourage my students to think about problems, formulate meaningful questions, and then work with me to find answers to those questions. My job is not to show you how smart I am–my job is to show you how smart you are!
